Seminole
Seminole - When I start, you end
Nice intro, although not studio quality recording. This soft rock middle of the road track is ridden with simplistic guitar and drum beats. Lyrically not bad but the vocals are rough and the pitch changes frequently leaving you with the image of a bad support act to Staind. Ending is abrupt and on this offering I would suggest skipping to the second song.
Seminole - Cactus
The pace of this song is more up my street and the sound is instantly likeable in the same way as a slow rock balad. Good use of harmonised vocals. Almost reminiscent of the 60's with the psychadelic ending, again too short with only just over 2 minutes on offer. An extra verse would make this a very decent track.
Seminole - Lamont
Kids on its another slow downbeat middle of the set tune but turns into a rip roaring full thunder guitar and drum solo. An almost Car advert 6 minutes proves this is a well practiced and thought out song. Lyrics are bare and could kick in earlier with more power, but this is definetly them getting into their stride. For some reason the link on myspace seems to sporadically cut out after 3 minutes or so.
Verdict
From the second and third song I could tell I liked their music however on first track listen I was thinking I would have to think of numerous ways of politely saying Pish, Cheesy, cliche, etc. I would recommend these guys do a bit of work on their tracks as some rough edges but they definetly have at least two pleasing songs on their page and if they re-ordered them then they may prove to be more popular. A real healthy gig listing of pubs around Glasgow show these guys obviously ply their trade live on stage which is the best way of getting a feel for their own music and what goes down well or not. Marked down as Indie but I would definetly say they are heavier than your typical Oasis, Blur and Killers wannabe's out there. Enjoyable and interesting to spend a night listening to.
