Track - Ghost without a Shadow

Well produced music and amazing vocals on a track that sounds like my other half has just put on a Katie Melua CD. Simplistic and repetitive guitar rhythm adds a nice backdrop to a song which is purely meant as a demonstration of great vocal talent, with some good writing skills behind it. Provides vivid imagery through the words and you can´t help but be drawn in by the vocals, ok I´ve mentioned them a lot but give me a break listen to the track and you´ll see!

Track - Freedom

Starts in a similar vein as the last track but slowly builds the tempo and the lyrics are fast flowing like a Dizzee Rascal notepad sung by a church choir. The higher notes don´t add to this song and are the only fault in what is otherwise a well structured and easy listening track. Not hugely inspiring and given the title didn´t make me think of Nelson Mandela once, ok but obviously it did but just to point out it hadn´t. D´oh.

Track - Going to California

With an influence list from Joni Mitchell to the doors I was hoping for a bit more variety from the five tracks on display. Unfortunately this is again an easy listening acoustic track that is sung slightly country western style. Not hugely complex musically but once more a nice display of vocal skills, with obvious emotionally charged writing.

Verdict

Lovely tracks and if you´re more coffee shop than mosh pit definitely worth checking out, once again this lady is on SlowTrainRecords and has music for sale which at the price is worth investing in. Nice mug of coffee and the paper on a morn with this in the background equals a very relaxing start to the day. This girl sure has a voice and it´s a good one with which she obviously knows how to use.
